What does a background remover do?

A background remover separates the subject of a photo from everything behind it and returns a transparent PNG. For poster work that matters because a cutout can be placed on any layout — a colour field, a gradient, a generated scene — without the original room, sky or studio wall coming along with it.

What this background remover does

One upload, one click, no prompt to write.

Transparent PNG out

The result keeps a real alpha channel, so it drops onto any background without a white box around it.

No prompt, no settings

There is nothing to describe. Upload the image and the subject is detected for you — this is the one tool here that does not involve a model prompt.

Before and after side by side

The original and the cutout are shown together so you can check edges — hair, glass and thin objects are where automatic cutouts fail.

Feeds straight into a poster

Download the cutout and upload it to the image to poster tool as your reference, or drop it onto the canvas alongside other elements.

How to remove an image background

Three steps and a few seconds.

1

Upload the image

JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 15 MB and 4096 px on the longest edge.

2

Wait for the cutout

The subject is detected automatically. Nothing to configure.

3

Check the edges, then download

Compare against the original before you download the transparent PNG. Fine hair and semi-transparent material are the usual weak points.

What the cutout is for

Removing a background is rarely the goal — it is the step before the layout.

Product on a clean poster

Shops

Lift the product off the table it was photographed on and place it on a poster background that suits it.

People on generated scenes

Event organisers

Cut a speaker or performer out of a snapshot and put them into a designed poster scene.

Logos and marks

Brand owners

Turn a logo screenshot with a white background into a transparent asset you can place anywhere.

Marketplace and listing photos

Sellers

Produce the plain-background product images most marketplaces ask for.

Collage and layout work

Designers

Build a poster from several cutouts instead of one flat photograph.

Profile and team shots

Teams

Standardise headshots that were taken in different rooms.

There is no manual brush or edge refinement. If a cutout misses fine detail, a cleaner source photo with more contrast between subject and background is the fix.

Background remover FAQ

Common questions about cutouts.

Is the background remover free?

Yes, and it needs no prompt or settings. Upload an image, get a transparent PNG back.

What resolution do I get back?

The same resolution you uploaded, up to 4096 px on the longest edge. Nothing is upscaled, so start from the largest version of your photo you have.

Does it handle hair and fur?

Reasonably well against a contrasting background, less well against a busy one. Fine strands and semi-transparent materials like glass or veils are the known weak points of automatic cutouts.

Can I use the cutout in a poster here?

Yes. Download the PNG and upload it to the image to poster tool as your reference image, or place it on the canvas with the rest of your layout.

Why did my upload fail?

Files over 15 MB or larger than 4096 px on either edge are rejected, as are formats other than JPG, PNG and WebP. Resize and try again.

Is my image stored?

See the privacy policy for how uploads are handled and retained.
